GIVE MORE FLUX
EXHIBITION DESIGN
GRAPHIC DESIGN & BRANDING
I managed this project as part of the Flux Collective, a group of 10 Dunedin-based designers influenced by the Wellington Media Collective and working closely with members Philip Kelly and Chris McBride. We created a range of outcomes to supplement a two-day exhibition that showcased three poster series tackling separate yet connected issues; import, export and waste in New Zealand.
GIVE MORE FLUX focused on changing perceptions to reveal New Zealand’s true status as a wasteful country through silk-screen printing posters on offcuts and recycled mediums. By printing on mediums that are generally considered to be disposable, we aimed to change the way people perceive the value of these products – and question their existing process of thought.
Based around an interview with Phillip Kelly and Chris McBride, I co-designed a publication to provide context around and display the screen-printed outcomes. The editorial for the publication was straightforward which opened up the potential for us to experiment with the processes and means used to produce the publication. The final GIVE MORE FLUX publication sleeve was screen-printed onto a good old brown paper bag, and the final publication was printed using a Risograph E2570a and hand stitch-bound.
